Why can’t I install Mac2Speech?
Since Mac2Speech is not distributed through the Mac App Store, you have to open ‘System Preferences’ click on ‘Security and Privacy’ and under ‘Allow apps downloaded form:’ select Anywhere
Where do I enter my license code?
With the server running, ctrl-click the M2S icon in the dock and select ‘Enter License Code’
How do I know that the License Code was applied correctly?
With the server running, ctrl-click the M2S icon in the dock and select ‘View’. A web browser will open, showing you the server’s default page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and verify that you are running there PRO version.
How can I access the log file?
A ‘rolling log file is maintained here ~/.Mac2Speech.log and will not grow larger than 10 MB.
How can I change the server’s TCP Port?
With the server running, ctrl-click the M2S icon in the dock and select ‘Change Port’
Why can’t I use port 80?
Ports below 1024 are so called ‘Privileged Ports’. Normal users are not allowed to run servers on TCP/IP port numbers below 1024.
What is the default voice?
If no value for the voice parameter is provided with the request, the last specified voice is used. The default voice for the very first request is ‘Alex’
Will Mac2Speech work with the new macOS Sierra (10.12)?
Absolutely, Mac2Speech 2.2.x has been optimized for the new OS.
What are the differences between the Demo and the Pro version?
The only difference is that the demo version injects “created with Mac 2 Speech” into the text, before the speech synthesis.
